Disconnect & Reconnect
I needed to disconnect from my social media accounts for the long weekend. It is a flurry of images and information - memes and quotes and a ton of emotion. We take it all in, no matter how little we spend on it.
That disconnection is why I wanted to start my own website and blog. Not to mention, the people who aren’t on social media - at all, or very little. I wanted a place where they could come and see what I’ve been working on, and follow along in my journey as a photographer.
Ladybug (AKA ladybird) on the leaf of a mayday tree.
Macro photography of bugs and plants is my go to interest for photography. I have so many images of flies, bees, dandelions, clover, etc. I just find it so interesting and beautiful how nature works! Going for a quiet walk through the farmyard with my camera - scanning above, and below for anything to catch my eye…. that is my connection with this world. And who would have thought! Spiders are one of my favorite bugs to capture.

We are lucky enough to have large groups of swans on our property. A group of swans is called a bevy, or a wedge in flight.
This bull moose was making his way through the swamp
Larger animals in nature - like moose or birds - are more difficult to capture unless you’re in the right place at the right time. Thankfully my husband has a sharp eye.
I’m learning more and more how to take interesting photos. I was trying to capture the interaction between one of my boys and our steer. But even though the way the sun was coming in made it a horribly exposed portrait-type photo…. I instead captured this cool shadow of him on his animal. I just really love what happened here.
I’m excited for this summer as I’m taking another portrait course (virtually) and I’m going to do some portrait shoots with some friends.
Always learning. Always growing.
And trying to connect with people in a way that feels right and whole.
Stay tuned and thanks for following along!
